Hello everybody!
Learning to play the piano is possibly the most joyous, rewarding and challenging experience I have had in my life. As a young child, I was blessed with a warm and wonderful teacher from the Royal Conservatory of Music who introduced me to the rich history of long-ago composers. She did so with such loving interest that I had no choice but to fall in love with the piano and everything I learned to play on it (well, mostly everything)!
Though I loved playing the piano, there were bumps in the road. Learning was not always easy, and self discipline came slowly. I owe my music education to those closest to me: my parents who never stopped pushing me through tough times, and my piano teacher who was ever encouraging and endlessly knowledgeable. And that means I also owe them for many other lessons along the way, including a healthy self-esteem, feelings of accomplishment and achievement far greater than I could ever have received through public school, and life skills such as self-discipline and a determination for success. I am so grateful!
As a classically trained pianist who has been teaching piano privately for over 18 years in the GTA, I can truly say that passing this gift of knowledge to others is what I am all about. Drawing on my own positive musical experiences, I have been able to bring music to hundreds of students successfully throughout the years. Here in the Bloor West area of Toronto, I look forward to opening up my home to new students, and continuing to share my love of music and passion for the piano with people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels.
Sincerely,
Faria MacDonald
Practice
Students are expected to practice regularly on a piano or keyboard. They will also be invited to attend and perform at recitals, group practice sessions and master classes for advanced level students. Opportunities to perform with other instrumentalists will also be offered to students at intermediate and advanced levels.
Cost
The cost is $34.00 per 1/2 hour lesson. Students at a beginner level are recommended to take 1/2 hour lessons, intermediate level (Grades 5 to 7) 45 minute lessons, and advanced level (Grades 8 to ARCT) 1 hour lessons.
For all students at all levels, the first class is a free 1/2 hour trial. This allows us to get to know each other before you register for the full curriculum. After the first session, payment is required in advance of every month.
